We asked. He answered. Get to know Tonal Coach Paul Wright in his own words.
Where did you grow up and how did you get into fitness?
I was born in Richmond, grew up and little bit there and mostly Martinez, and went to high school in Concord; so I just tell people I’m from the East Bay Area. I was always active with sports growing up and my parents were physically active as well so health and wellness have always been a part of my day-to-day life.
What is your coaching style?
Hands-on motivation! I believe with anything in life, what you give is what you get, so the energy I give my clients during private sessions or classes has to be dialed! I like to make sure I am upbeat and enthusiastic but still make sure to challenge my people not only physically but mentally as well.
What are your favorite movements on Tonal?
Goblet squat, stability lift, barbell rows, I love all of these because I feel a strong challenge mentally and physically with these movements, which help maximize my time!
What do you do to stay motivated?
I keep my faith and God because I’m thankful to wake up every day, that’s what keeps me going. Being blessed with a healthy body every day is enough reason for me to stay healthy. I don’t take my health for granted!
What is your favorite pre or post-workout snack?
A pre-workout staple for me is simply water. I like to be empty when I move my body.
Post-snack go-to is a PB&J.
What is your favorite quote?
Fear is a lack of faith.
