Riley J. Williams III, MD is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Attending Surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery – Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Williams is a Clinician – Scientist with a focus on knee reconstruction and cartilage repair. He is the Program Director for the HSS Sports Medicine Institute.
Dr. Williams graduated from Yale College, and then attended the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Williams completed his postgraduate training in Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery; he joined the attending staff in 1998. Riley is an active academic who has published over 150 original peer reviewed articles, and two books. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is the Director of the Institute for Cartilage Repair, and the FIFA Center of Excellence at HSS. Dr. Williams serves as the Medical Director and Head Team Physician for the Brooklyn Nets (NBA) and New York Red Bulls (MLS); he is also a team physician for USA Basketball. He has also worked with the NY Mets and NY Giants.
Dr. Williams is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of Best In Class MD (BICMD), a telehealth company focused on connecting patients to high-quality physicians. Dr. Williams is also Co-founder and Co-CEO of Overture Resurfacing Inc., a medical device company that produces implants that provide patients options for joint arthritis conditions as an alternative to total joint replacement.
