Experience the Future of Fitness with Tonal 2
Improve performance and build muscle faster with up to 250 pounds of adaptive weight.
After revolutionizing strength training with the world’s first all-in-one home gym utilizing digital resistance, Tonal continues innovating with the release of Tonal 2. Stronger, sleeker, and more durable, Tonal 2 brings the Tonal experience to the next level with new ways to train and enhanced hardware. It’s all the best parts of Tonal—personalized weight recommendations, world-class coaching, progress tracking, and more—plus new features in an elevated design.
What’s New in Tonal 2
Heavier Weight: While Tonal 1 taps out at a maximum resistance of 200 pounds, Tonal 2 is packed with powerful new technology and an ultra-durable design that enables you to lift up to 250 pounds of digital resistance, so you can push your gains to new heights. Now even Tonal’s most advanced members can continue challenging themselves in heavier lifts such as deadlifts and shoulder shrugs.
Aero HIIT Workouts: The perfect blend of cardio and strength training, Aero HIIT is an all-new modality exclusively available on Tonal 2. With Aero, you’ll get the endorphin rush and heart-health benefits of a cardio workout while strengthening all your major muscle groups in one session. There are five new Aero moves: Aero Pull, Aero Mini Pull, Aero Twist, Aero Chop, and Aero Lunge. These heart-pumping sessions develop endurance and strength while burning fat. Aero moves are included in a series of coach-led workouts, such as Getting Started With Aero led by Coach Ash Wilking, giving you the expert guidance you need to get the most out of Aero. You can also add Aero moves to any custom workout as well.
There are two key differences between Aero moves and other exercises on Tonal. Aero has a completely new resistance profile with a fluid, rhythmic feel, similar to the feeling you get with a row machine.
Additionally, Aero features a resistance dial rather than the weight dial you see during on-Tonal strength exercises. The higher the number, the stickier the resistance and more work you need to put in to pull the cable. Aero is done using a new flexible dual T-lock rope, which allows you to connect the rope to both arms for added stability. For strength moves, you can still connect the rope to a single arm.
Built-In Smart View: It’s never been easier to get instant form feedback on Tonal. Built-in Smart View on Tonal 2 utilizes the high-quality, on-Tonal camera to let you see yourself working out on screen and quickly check your form. Tonal also provides real-time coaching cues, based on 500 data points between what the cables can feel and what the camera can see, to improve your form for better results.
Just like a personal trainer assessing your movement live, Tonal monitors your power, range of motion, and body positioning to predict your optimal weight and help dial in your form. You’ll also have the option to set up Smart View on your phone to add in the side-angle view. After your workout, view visual coaching cues in the app to unlock insights in between sessions, like an athlete’s post-game film.
Smart View will only be available if you opt in to the feature. The camera is always disabled when you’re not in a workout and you’ll have the option to delete your videos at any time. You can also choose to see yourself on screen during a workout without recording.
The new camera also makes it more fun and intuitive to snap post-workout selfies to share on social media, in the Tonal community, or directly with your friends. Celebrate your success with a new customizable workout stat overlay for your sweaty selfies to stay motivated and feel the support of the community.
Drop Sets: Weightlifters have long used drop sets, in which you reduce the weight you’re lifting within a set as you approach failure, to accumulate more muscle-building volume in less time. However, doing this with free weights typically requires extra equipment or a dedicated spotter.
Choose Drop Sets as your set type in any of your workouts or choose a coach-led workout or program that guides you through this advanced lifting technique. Note: This feature is also available on Tonal 1.
Smoother Feel: A next-generation motor control board means every movement feels smoother on Tonal 2. You’ll especially appreciate this in Aero workouts when you’ll be working to keep the cables in constant motion.
Modern Look: Unlike lots of home exercise equipment that you’d prefer to keep hidden in a closet or basement, Tonal’s sleek design makes it worthy of showing off. Tonal 2 has a refined, modern look with an all-black design and premium chrome accents.
Hardware Enhancements: Consistency over time is the key to making progress with your fitness. Tonal 2 ensures you’re in it for the long run with 75% stronger cables and all-around greater durability. Thanks to improved streaming capabilities and upgraded audio, Tonal 2 workouts capture the high-energy feel of in-person group fitness classes, while embedded EQ optimization boosts the beat of your music to keep you motivated through every rep.

Starting from your strength assessment to set your initial optimal weight across every move, Tonal continually monitors your movements to provide the perfect weight recommendations for every exercise. As you get stronger, Tonal will be ready to challenge you with heavier weights. You’ll still be able to increase weight in one-pound increments to dial in the ideal resistance for every lift. Plus, Dynamic Weight Modes such as Eccentric and Chains help you incorporate advanced lifting techniques into your workouts and continuously keep you challenged.
World-Class Coaching and Workouts: With their combined decades of experience across multiple sports and workout modalities, Tonal’s coaches have the knowledge and expertise to guide you to success. Progress Tracking: By tracking every rep in every workout, Tonal provides real-time feedback on how far you’ve come in your fitness journey. Get insights on your power, range of motion, and total volume lifted during your sessions and post-workout to review.
You personalized weekly targets provide a roadmap detailing the exact amount and type of training to achieve your goals, including endurance, muscle growth, weight loss, and more.
Rich metrics and insights, such as Tonal’s proprietary Strength Score, showcase your progress and motivate you to keep going.
