Tony Horton Returns, New Coaches, Exciting Programming, and More
Strength for All Seasons
With thousands of workouts geared toward all levels of lifters with goals ranging from functional strength and movement quality to weight loss and muscle growth, Tonal’s philosophy has always been that strength training is truly for everyone.
We’re doubling down on that mission with new coaches—plus a returning favorite—and a diverse line-up of upcoming programs and workouts. “This year’s programming slate is incredibly intentional,” says Jenna Moore, Tonal’s Senior Manager of Performance and Talent. “We’re continuing to build on the strength-first foundation that members already love, while expanding the ways they can train on Tonal.”

Tony Horton Returns
Fitness superstar and P90X creator Tony Horton is coming back to Tonal with an all-new program, 20-in-20: Reignite, launching April 3. This sequel to the incredibly popular 20-in-20: Ignite brings Coach Tony’s signature energy and sense of humor to each fast and focused workout that has a specific muscle group target and is all about driving hypertrophy by accumulating maximum volume and time under tension in about 20 minutes.
The program builds in intensity over four weeks, moving quickly to create a metabolic demand while building muscle.
“They’re fast, they’re efficient,” says Coach Tony of his new workouts. “People are learning that you can get a lot done in a short period of time.” The only breaks you’ll get are for Coach Tony to crack a joke. As he says, “Exercise is hard…but there’s some fun in there, too. It’s the fun and the way the programs are structured that keep people coming back.”
In addition to this release, Coach Tony will also have more programs coming later this year, including one designed for members 50+. After decades of fitness experience, Coach Tony is living proof that strength training is essential for longevity, and he’ll be coaching with an emphasis on sustainable strength and aging well. He admits that while he’s shifted his focus from pure aesthetics in his 20s to quality of life in his 60s, he’s stronger and faster than ever before thanks to training sustainably. “I’m 67, and it feels honestly better than 27 in my case,” he says.
Programs like 20-in-20: Reignite are designed to give you a well-rounded workout that fits in a busy lifestyle, no matter your age. “You’ll see programming that emphasizes strength as the foundation of healthy aging, while also incorporating movement quality, stability, and resilience,” says Moore. “The goal is to help members stay strong, capable, and active for decades—not just the next workout.”
Meet Your New Coaches
Three new coaches will be joining Tonal’s Live schedule beginning May 4. “Each new coach brings a unique background, perspective, and energy,” says Moore. “Our new coaches are incredible educators and motivators, and they’re bringing a lot of expertise in strength, performance, mobility and longevity-focused fitness.” Here’s a sneak peek at Tonal’s new live coaches, who you can also get to know in on-demand workouts launching in April.
Margaret Valenzuela: Strength for Women of All Ages

Margaret Valenzuela—who describes herself as “tough and sweet” or “badass with a little bit of grace”—has more than 10 years of fitness experience and a love for creating community.
Coach Margaret is especially passionate about inspiring women to lift heavy as they enter perimenopause and menopause. “As we get older, we’re losing bone density and we get slower,” she says. “Building strength and building muscle is insurance for our golden years.”
She credits fitness with saving her life after a debilitating accident, and says that gratitude guides her coaching. “Now I’m here, kicking ass, overcoming challenges and obstacles, and leading by example,” she says. She’s excited to share her spirit with the Tonal community and motivate others. “I’m a woman, a mom, and a coach balancing work, life, stress, and responsibilities while still choosing to show up for myself,” she says. “That’s why I connect so deeply with this community. It’s filled with people who are committed to doing the work and becoming stronger, both physically and mentally.”
Kenny Ferrer: Strength in the Balance

Strength and yoga coach Kenny Ferrer embraces contradictions. The former minor league baseball player says he’s tough and muscular on the outside, but gentle and zen on the inside.
He’s looking forward to encouraging Tonal members to reach for their full potential. “I’m most excited about connecting and training with other folks with a growth mindset, which is the belief in one’s own ability to improve through effort,” he says.
In terms of training, this translates to knowing when to go hard and when to recover. He lifts most days each week and balances this out with yoga and active recovery, which he credits with giving him the longevity to keep training. “In any of the strength training that I do, I do it from this yogic perspective with an emphasis on the breath and with a deep mind-body connection,” he says. “I’m doing things now as a 36-year-old that as a 26-year-old I thought there was no way I ever could.”
Alexandra Mack: Strength for Performance

Personal trainer and distance running coach Alexandra Mack brings an athletic edge to her coaching, encouraging you to challenge yourself while still having fun in the process. “I’ve been an athlete since the day I could walk,” she says. While she ran track and field in college, Alexandra also loves skiing and playing tennis, golf, and soccer.
“I love helping people build strength, not just physically, but mentally, and Tonal gives you the tools to guide people through that process in a really meaningful way,” she says. She loves how Tonal’s progress tracking gives members ownership of their training and is excited to join such an empowering and motivating community.
She also has unique insight on how strength training helps runners and other athletes achieve their performance goals. “A lot of time people focus on miles and not how much impact those miles put on your body. Strength training is your number one tool for injury prevention,” she says. “It helps you stay strong, it helps you feel more confident in your miles, and it’s truly going to help you stay injury free until you hit the start line.”
Upcoming Strength Programs
In addition to a fresh Live Workout schedule featuring Tonal’s newest coaches and an emphasis on lifting heavy, you can expect a wide range of new programs in the coming months.
“Members will see more structured pathways through training this year. More long-form progressive programs and new training tracks that help them understand how to phase their workouts over time based on their goals,” says Moore. “Whether someone is focused on building strength, improving performance, or supporting longevity, we want to give them clear ways to train with purpose.”
Here’s just some of what to expect in the coming months:
Longer-Term Programming
After the success of programs such as 12 Weeks to Jacked and 8 Weeks to Lean, you’ll see more programs that go beyond four weeks, setting you up for long-term success. As Moore says, “We’re continuing to build progressive programs that guide members through structured training blocks or phases. These programs take the guesswork out of training and help members see real progress over time, which is one of the things Tonal does best.”
On the docket? A 10-week HIIT and strength hybrid program with Coach Ackeem Emmons and an 8-week muscle-building program with Coach Kendall “Woody” Wood.
Strength that Supports Women
Women are lifting heavy on Tonal and we’re creating more programs to help them push their limits in all life stages. “We want women to feel supported with programming that acknowledges the physiological changes they may experience while still helping them build strength and confidence,” says Moore, explaining how upcoming programs will focus on staying strong in perimenopause and menopause.
“We know that more and more women are prioritizing strength training during perimenopause and menopause, especially for the purposes of maintaining muscle mass, bone density, metabolic health, and overall energy,” she says. “Our upcoming programming will include strength-forward training that supports these needs while also incorporating mobility, recovery, and smart training progressions,” Moore says.
Coach Shelby Hicks will be leading a new program that pairs yoga and heavy lifting to encourage a balance between work and recovery. Coach Woody will have a program designed to help members build power, one of the first attributes impacted as we age. There will also be an intermediate hypertrophy program designed to set members up for Coach Woody’s advanced 8-week muscle-building program. Coach Ash is releasing three trimester-specific prenatal strength programs, each targeted to the unique challenges and demands of different stages of pregnancy.
Pilates to Support Strength

“We’re also continuing to build out our complementary modalities like Pilates and yoga to support a more holistic approach to fitness,” says Moore. “The goal is to give members more variety and flexibility while staying rooted in the smart, effective strength training that defines the Tonal experience.”
On that front, Coach Katie Yip is leading an advanced Pilates program, Pilates: Move with Control, launching in April, for members looking to level up their precision, alignment, and core strength. The program will be paired with a four-part, heavy lifting series taught by Coach Woody. Additional Pilates programs led by Coach Kristin McGee will be released later this year.
More Programs from Coaches You Love
In addition to all the great programming above, in the coming months you’ll see more programs members have been requesting, including a classic program from Coach Joe, a 30-minute program from Coach Ackeem, and Tonal’s first all-legs program incorporating ankle straps, led by Coach Woody.
